Description
With the outcome of the U.S. elections poised to go either way, how will the Thai economy be affected and how can Thailand and companies doing business here prepare themselves for anticipated impacts or opportunities? Please join us to hear insights from Dr. Supavud Saicheua, Prime Minister’s advisor and Chairman of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC).
This meeting will also serve as the AMCHAM Annual General Meeting for the purpose of electing the 2025-2026 Board Governors. Online voting will close at 12:30 and the incoming Board Governors will be announced at the luncheon.
Supavud Saicheua is newly appointed as an Advisor to the Prime Minister, after having been appointed chairman of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) in June 2024. He is also an advisor to Kiatnakin Phatra Financial Group following his retirement as Managing Director and Head of Research at Phatra Securities Plc. Supavud joined Phatra Finance and Securities Plc (as it was then known) in 1994. It was during these 25 years at Phatra that Supavud and his team lived through many tumultuous economic events including being on ground zero during Thailand’s financial crisis in 1997. Prior to his work at Phatra, Supavud worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he was posted to Washington D.C. as the Thai Embassy’s Economic Officer during 1986-90. In his varied positions at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign affairs during 1978-1994, Supavud participated in bilateral and multilateral talks including the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations. Supavud earned his Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1984.
