Description
The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). They have 93 offices covering 171 countries globally.
Please join the AMCHAM Food & AgriBusiness Committee to learn more about the priorities and issues facing FAS in Thailand. Get information on major Thai, as well as U.S. government policies which will impact agriculture and trade, such as Thai alcohol policies, rejuvenated interest in TPP or other FTAs, the 2018 Farm Bill, NAFTA, and the impact of the steel tariffs on U.S. agriculture. Meet Russ Nicely (Counselor), Paul Welcher (Attaché), and their staff to find out how they might be able to assist you through their work here in Thailand and Laos.
Mr. Russell J. Nicely has worked with USDA/FAS for twenty-three years both domestically and abroad. He assumed the post of the Agricultural Counselor, covering Thailand and Laos in the beginning of August, 2017. He previously held the position of Regional Agricultural Attaché in Poland covering much of Eastern Europe, and also Regional Agricultural Counselor in Lagos, Nigeria, covering Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Cameroon, and Benin. From 2002-2006 he was the Agricultural Attache in Bangkok, Thailand and covered Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and Laos for USDA. His office at the U.S. Embassy is responsible for facilitating strong trading relations with Thailand and Laos and to support United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) programming efforts in the SE Asian region.
