AMCHAM is delighted to present Mrs. Auramon Supthaweethum, Director General of the Department of Trade Negotiations (DTN), Ministry of Commerce, as the honored keynote speaker at our June Monthly Luncheon. As Thailand is ASEAN Chairman this year with the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability”, the conclusion of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations, a mega-trade pact of 16 countries, is one of the pivotal priorities that the Thai government aims to achieve. She will be speaking about what the Department of Trade Negotiations has been preparing to drive for the successful RCEP deal, the status of other international trade agreements, and the significant roles of the private sector in this process.
Director General Auramon represented Thailand in several World Trade Organization (WTO) and bilateral trade negotiations and meetings. She was Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization from 2003-2007. She became Deputy Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property in 2015. From 2015 to 2017, she was a member of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) where she worked on recommendations for economic reform with a view to transforming Thailand to Innovative-Driven- Economy. In 2017, She was Deputy Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations. In 2018, she was appointed Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations.
Director General Auramon holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration in Accounting and Economics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, with further studies in Economic Development and International Trade at University of Reading, the United Kingdom, and a Master of Business Administration from Thammasat University, Thailand.
