In 2019, Ford Motor Company announced the formation of an International Markets Group (IMG). IMG brings together dozens of richly diverse markets from all over the world including Australia, India, South Africa, and Thailand, as well as several emerging and distributor markets.

In 2022, Thailand became the regional headquarter for Ford IMG as the country continues as one of the company’s key manufacturing hubs and the base for IMG Operations team, the Global Trucks Enterprise Product Line Management (EPLM) team, as well as the Marketing Communications center of excellence.

Ford’s retail growth and success in Thailand is being driven by the segment-defining Ranger pickup truck and the mid-size Everest SUV, or PPV, as the segment is referred to in Thailand. These two vehicles have helped Ford maintain its strong presence and expand its customer base in the Thai market.

The Company is supporting its continued retail growth in Thailand with an ongoing expansion of its Ford dealer network, which includes 180 locations nationwide.

To date, Ford is one of the largest automotive investors in Thailand, with cumulative investments totaling more than $3.4 billion since 1995. Since 2007, Ford has invested more than $1.7 billion to expand one of its key global production and export hubs. This includes $377 million in 2011 to upgrade and expand production of the pickup truck line at AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) for the all-new Ranger and all-new Everest and $450 million in 2012 for the state of-the-art Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) facility in Rayong. In 2015, Ford invested an additional $186 million to FTM for incremental Ranger production to help meet extraordinary demand across the region.

In 2021, Ford announced its largest single investment in Ford’s 25-year history in Thailand with a US$900 million (THB 28 billion) investment to modernize its Thailand manufacturing operations both at its wholly owned Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) and joint-venture AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) truck plant. Part of the Ford+ plan for growth and value creation, the investment supports production of the next-gen Ranger pickup truck and Everest SUV. Total production capacity of FTM is 135,000 units/year, while AAT’s combined production capacity stands at 270,000 units/year.

Ford Motor Company is an active participant in numerous social and community projects throughout Thailand. The Company launched the global Ford’s Driving Skills for Life campaign in Thailand in 2008 and has since had more than 14,800 licensed drivers participate in a series of ongoing training sessions across the country, free of charge.

The Company actively promotes innovation and human resource development for students in Thailand, under the ‘Ford+ Innovator Scholarship’ and the ‘Building for Thailand’s Future’ – a work-study apprentice program with the Thai-Austrian (Sattahip) Technical College. The company also places commitment to environmental conservation and building a better world through the ‘Water Go Green’ project.

Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, opened a Ford Resource and Engagement Center (FREC) in Bangkok’s historic Nang Loeng neighborhood in January 2019.
